The shape of nasal cartilage and the thickness of nasal skin make the shape of nasal tip.
Some people have the outline of the cartilage (that can be seen) when they have thin skin and large cartilage of nasal tip. Especially Caucasian.
Korean has a weak cartilage and a thick skin, so they don’t have the outline of the cartilage.
Generally, use ear cartilage or other cartilage to raise the nasal tip but if make many cartilage layers on nasal tip or do not trim the cartilage well then the outline of cartilage is visible in case of nasal skin is thin.
The most important to check in Rhinoplasty is nasal skin.
If the patient has thin skin, any implant or graft can be seen, so have to be very careful.
If the patient has very thin skin, then it is better to do not surgery.
In order to solve the problem, make proper layers of cartilage or trim cartilage well. And also wrapping around of cartilage using fascia or periosteum. But if the patient has very thin skin, this method also doesn’t work.
Therefore, to prevent the nasal tip cartilage visible after rhinoplasty, the surgeon has to consider of nasal skin thickness. Trim cartilage carefully and do not make too much cartilage layers on nasal tip. Also recommend to wrap cartilage using fascial or periosteum.
