Nasal septum reconstruction with revision rhinoplasty
Nasal septum (septal cartilage) is play an role of pillar of nose. And it divides the airway into right and left.
Nasal septum cartilage is a good material for the nose tip support.
It is an autologous material, straight and square shape, thin, flexible and soft.
Also when people has a ‘nasal septum deviation’, it can cause ‘nasal decongestion’.
It can also be improved as nasal septum deviation corrected while harvesting septal cartilage.
However, in some cases, it can make some problem after using septal cartilage.
1. If use weak nose septal cartilage as the tip supporting, tip can collapsed as tip supporting getting weak.
2. If harvest too much nasal septum cartilage from nose septum, as time goes, nasal bridge can be collapsed as bearing power of nasal bridge getting weak.
This is a before & after photo of ‘Nasal septum reconstruction with revision rhinoplasty’ conducted by Dr. Cho Bae-Jung.
This woman had a rhinoplasty several years ago. (nose bridge augmentation using I typed silicone implant, and nose tip plasty using her septal and ear cartilage.
However, her nose shape has changed as nose bridge got lower.
Because she didn’t like her nose, she decided to do revision rhinoplasty.
Dr. Cho reconstructed her nasal septum, and made her nose shape with better using rib cartilage.
As you can see, after revision rhinoplasty, her facial balance also changed to better shape.
