Contracted nose surgery

Contracted nose is a state that causes deformity internally and externally of the nose.

So Contracted nose also called “retracted nose”.

Causes of contracted nose

1. Capular contraction from a silicone implant

2. Nose injury

3. Repetitive nose surgery

4. Nasal infection

Correction of contracted nose

1) Silicone has to be removed.

2) Increase the length of nasal bridge to normal.

3) The nasal tip has to be supported and enhanced with cartilage of ear, septum and rib etc.

Nasal contracture is already a state of its normal nasal structure damaged.

Surgery is difficult as not only its skin is deformed but also there is a number of cases that don’t have cartilaage that is used as material.

Nasal tip is weak due to the damage of cartilage. So Should be reinforced to support it.

If make support weak, nasal tip can be collapsed again.

So, Surgeon should have enough  eperience and know-how.

Material for contracted nose surgery

Nose has not enough own cartilage, so it is better to use self rib cartilage.

Because Self rib cartilage is autologous tissue and is hard enough to overcome the tension of stiffy skin, straight and sufficient of its amount that it is a suitable material for contracted nose treatment.

Key point for revision rhinoplasty of contracted nose

“You need to find a surgeon who can treat self rib cartilage well”

“You need to find surgeon who has abundant experiences and know-how on revision rhinoplasty”

“And also know about internal structure of nose well”
